It was a day in 1994 very much unlike today when Cheuy was born. It was cool and overcast, a typical Humboldt County day when Cheuy, sired by a Siamese, was rescued from a locked garage. He looked like a tennis ball with azure colored eyes. Eyes thas contained a sparkle and charmed everyone he met. Even during his short hospitalization he befriended all who cared for him.
That spark was exstinquished today.
Cheuy was a quiet, docile, easy going creature. His joy was being carried around the house on a shoulder where he clung like a baby. Get too close to him and you were likely to receive a gentle head butt. Sometimes, in the heat of passion, his head butt was a bit harder than expected. There was not an angry bone in his body. A small pile of catnip was an unexpected pleasure that he enjoyed.
There is no monetary toll to cross the Rainbow Bridge. There is an emotional toll that words do not describe. While Cheuy's physical presence is gone, he'll never be forgotten and will be sorely missed. While it's claimed that time heals all wounds, the emptiness and pain felt by all who knew him won't pass easily.
Cheuy is now in a place were he won't hurt and he'll be happy. He won't be lonely. He'll be missed. We'll never regret having Cheuy and no matter how much pain this period of time has for us, we can't imagine it without him. He brought joy and comfort. The sparkle of those eyes will be missed.
Godspeed Cheuy.
